ABSTRACT
We are planning a research agenda looking at how people react to malware warnings. Prior research has shown that people ignore malware warnings. Our research will look at the neuroscience associated with subjects’ identification, recall, and reaction to malware warnings.

VIJAY KUMAR is the Assistant Director for Robotics and Cyber Physical Systems at the Office of Science and Technology Policy. He is on sabbatical leave from the University of Pennsylvania where he is the UPS Foundation Professor in the School of Engineering and Applied Science, with appointments in the Departments of Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics, and Computer and Information Science. He received his Bachelors of Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur and his Ph.D. from The Ohio State University in 1987.

How do we reconcile these desires with the apparent need for privacy that surveys keep finding so widespread among the American population? In short, what drives individuals to reveal, and to hide, information about themselves to and from others?

Feng Zhao is an Assistant Managing Director at Microsoft Research Asia, where he oversees multiple research areas including hardware computing, mobile and sensing, software analytics, systems, and wireless and networking. He is also an Affiliate Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering at University of Washington and an adjunct Professor at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
