Prof. Dr. Peter Marwedel studied physics at the University of Kiel, Germany, where he also received his PhD in physics. As a Post-Doc, he was one of the pioneers in high-level synthesis based on the hardware description language MIMOLA. He received the formal qualification for professors in computer science in 1987. In 1989 he became a full professor at the faculty of informatics, TU Dortmund, Germany. He also was a visiting professor at UC Irvine (USA) in 1995. Since 1997 he is CEO of Informatik Centrum Dortmund, which is a spin-off of TU Dortmund.
