The SoS VO is an online community to advance cyber-security science
Virtually every computing system today is at risk from some form of cyber attack. The problem continues to grow in scope, in part because there does not exist today a foundational science of security. While the community is certainly making improvements in the security of many systems, progress is often ad-hoc, muddled, and difficult to measure with respect to actual progress being made.
To discuss and identify research needs in the certifiable assurance of cyber-physical systems (CPSs), focusing on uncertainties associated with the verification and validation of the complex logic on which these CPSs rely, whether the logic is implemented in software, field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), complex programmable logic devices (CPLDs), application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs), etc. This growing issue cuts across many application domains affecting society, e.g., medical devices, automobiles, commercial aircraft, and nuclear power plants.
Promotes and develops Education and Professional Development issues for the CPS community
The Education Group has as its goal the wide dissemination of educational materials for CPS. This includes course outlines, modules inserted into other courses, as well as new degree programs developed and integration into K-12.
This is a group for CPS-VO Principal Investigators.
The CPS PI Group supports information exchange among the Principal Investigators, Co- Principal Investigators, and other key personnel of CPS projects.
