Information security has become a growing concern. Computer covert channel which is regarded as an important area of information security research gets more attention. In order to detect these covert channels, a variety of detection algorithms are proposed in the course of the research. The algorithms of machine learning type show better results in these detection algorithms. However, the common machine learning algorithms have many problems in the testing process and have great limitations. Based on the deep learning algorithm, this paper proposes a new idea of network covert channel detection and forms a new detection model. On the one hand, this algorithmic model can detect more complex covert channels and, on the other hand, greatly improve the accuracy of detection due to the use of a new deep learning model. By optimizing this test model, we can get better results on the evaluation index.

The IP address attribution information includes the geographical information, the network routing information, the agency information, Internet Content Provider (ICP) information, etc. Nowadays, the attribution information is important to the network traffic engineering, which needs to be obtained in real time in network traffic analysis system. The existing proposed methods for IP address attribution information lookup cannot be employed in actual systems efficiently due to their low scalability or bad performance. They cannot address the backbone network's requirements for real-time IP address attribution information lookup, and most lookup methods do not support custom IP address attribution lookup. In response to these challenges, we propose a novel high-speed approach for IP address attribution information lookup. We first devise a data structure of IP address attribution information search tree (PATIP-TREE) to store custom IP address attribution information. Based on the PATIP-TREE, an effective algorithm for IP information lookup is proposed, which can support custom IP addresses attribution information lookup in real time. The experimental results show that our method outperforms the existing methods in terms of higher efficiency. Our approach also provides high scalability, which is suitable for many kinds network address such as IPv4 address, IPv6 address, named data networking address, etc.

Caching query results is an efficient technique for Web search engines. A state-of-the-art approach named Static-Dynamic Cache (SDC) is widely used in practice. Replacement policy is the key factor on the performance of cache system, and has been widely studied such as LIRS, ARC, CLOCK, SKLRU and RANDOM in different research areas. In this paper, we discussed replacement policies for static-dynamic cache and conducted the experiments on real large scale query logs from two famous commercial Web search engine companies. The experimental results show that ARC replacement policy could work well with static-dynamic cache, especially for large scale query results cache.

Zhao, C., He, J., Cheng, P., Chen, J..  2017.  Privacy-preserving consensus-based energy management in smart grid. 2017 IEEE Power Energy Society General Meeting. :1–5.

This paper investigates the privacy-preserving problem of the distributed consensus-based energy management considering both generation units and responsive demands in smart grid. First, we reveal the private information of consumers including the electricity consumption and the sensitivity of the electricity consumption to the electricity price can be disclosed without any privacy-preserving strategy. Then, we propose a privacy-preserving algorithm to preserve the private information of consumers through designing the secret functions, and adding zero-sum and exponentially decreasing noises. We also prove that the proposed algorithm can preserve the privacy while keeping the optimality of the final state and the convergence performance unchanged. Extensive simulations validate the theoretical results and demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

Wang, S., Yan, Q., Chen, Z., Yang, B., Zhao, C., Conti, M..  2017.  TextDroid: Semantics-based detection of mobile malware using network flows. 2017 IEEE Conference on Computer Communications Workshops (INFOCOM WKSHPS). :18–23.

The wide-spreading mobile malware has become a dreadful issue in the increasingly popular mobile networks. Most of the mobile malware relies on network interface to coordinate operations, steal users' private information, and launch attack activities. In this paper, we propose TextDroid, an effective and automated malware detection method combining natural language processing and machine learning. TextDroid can extract distinguishable features (n-gram sequences) to characterize malware samples. A malware detection model is then developed to detect mobile malware using a Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifier. The trained SVM model presents a superior performance on two different data sets, with the malware detection rate reaching 96.36% in the test set and 76.99% in an app set captured in the wild, respectively. In addition, we also design a flow header visualization method to visualize the highlighted texts generated during the apps' network interactions, which assists security researchers in understanding the apps' complex network activities.

Shi, Z., Huang, M., Zhao, C., Huang, L., Du, X., Zhao, Y..  2017.  Detection of LSSUAV using hash fingerprint based SVDD. 2017 IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC). :1–5.
With the rapid development of science and technology, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) gradually become the worldwide focus of science and technology. Not only the development and application but also the security of UAV is of great significance to modern society. Different from methods using radar, optical or acoustic sensors to detect UAV, this paper proposes a novel distance-based support vector data description (SVDD) algorithm using hash fingerprint as feature. This algorithm does not need large number of training samples and its computation complexity is low. Hash fingerprint is generated by extracting features of signal preamble waveforms. Distance-based SVDD algorithm is employed to efficiently detect and recognize low, slow, small unmanned aerial vehicles (LSSUAVs) using 2.4GHz frequency band.
