A vast volume of digital electronic health records is exchanged across the open network in this modern era. Cross all the existing security methods, encryption is a dependable method of data security. This study discusses an encryption technique for digital medical images that uses chaos combined with deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). In fact, Rossler's and Lorenz's chaotic systems along with DNA encoding are used in the suggested medical image cryptographic system. Chaos is used to create a random key stream. The DNA encoding rules are then used to encode the key and the input original image. A hardware design of the proposed scheme is implemented on the Zedboard development kit. The experimental findings show that the proposed cryptosystem has strong security while maintaining acceptable hardware performances.

We define the principle of chaotic AVSK encoding and decoding, and introduce a chaotic AVSK communication platform and its coding scheme. And then the chaotic AVSK coding technology be successfully achieved in encrypted optics communications while the presented AVO function, as AVSK, is adjusting real-time chaotic phase space trajectory, where the AVO function and AVSK according to our needs can be immediately variable and adjustable. The coding system characterizes AVSK of emitters. And another combined AVSK coding be discussed. So the system's security enhances obviously because it increases greatly the difficulty for intruders to decipher the information from the carrier. AVSK scheme has certain reference value for the research of chaotic laser secure communication and laser network synchronization.

The design of efficient and secure cryptographic algorithms is a fundamental problem of cryptography. Due to the tight cost and constrained resources devices such as Radio-Frequency IDentification (RFID), wireless sensors, smart cards, health-care devices, lightweight cryptography has received a great deal of attention. Recent research mainly focused on designing optimized cryptographic algorithms which trade offs between security performance, time consuming, energy consumption and cost. In this paper, we present two chaotic stream ciphers based on chaos and we report the results of a comparative performance evaluation study. Compared to other crypto-systems of the literature, we demonstrate that our designed stream ciphers are suitable for practical secure applications of the Internet of Things (IoT) in a constrained resource environment.

We propose and numerically demonstrate a novel secure key distribution scheme based on the chaos synchronization of two semiconductor lasers (SLs) subject to symmetrical double chaotic injections, which are outputted by two mutually-coupled semiconductor lasers. The results show that high quality chaos synchronization can be observed between two local SLs with suitable injection strength and identical injection time delays for Alice and Bob. On the basis of satisfactory chaos synchronization and a post-processing technology, identical secret keys for Alice and Bob are successfully generated with bit error ratio (BER) below the HD-FEC threshold of $^\textrm-3\$$\$.

Aydın, Yılmaz, Özkaynak, Fatih.  2021.  Eligibility Analysis of Different Chaotic Systems Derived from Logistic Map for Design of Cryptographic Components. 2021 International Conference Engineering Technologies and Computer Science (EnT). :27—31.
One of the topics that have successful applications in engineering technologies and computer science is chaos theory. The remarkable area among these successful applications has been especially the subject of chaos-based cryptology. Many practical applications have been proposed in a wide spectrum from image encryption algorithms to random number generators, from block encryption algorithms to hash functions based on chaotic systems. Logistics map is one of the chaotic systems that has been the focus of attention of researchers in these applications. Since, Logistic map can be shown as the most widely used chaotic system in chaos-based cryptology studies due to its simple mathematical structure and its characterization as a strong entropy source. However, in some studies, researchers stated that the behavior displayed in relation to the dynamics of the Logistic map may pose a problem for cryptology applications. For this reason, alternative studies have been carried out using different chaotic systems. In this study, it has been investigated which one is more suitable for cryptographic applications for five different derivatives of the Logistic map. In the study, a substitution box generator program has been implemented using the Logistic map and its five different derivatives. The generated outputs have been tested for five basic substitution box design criteria. Analysis results showed that the proposals for maps derived from Logistic map have a more robust structure than many studies in the literature.

The cryptology science has gradually gained importance with our digitalized lives. Ensuring the security of data transmitted, processed and stored across digital channels is a major challenge. One of the frequently used components in cryptographic algorithms to ensure security is substitution-box structures. Random selection-based substitution-box structures have become increasingly important lately, especially because of their advantages to prevent side channel attacks. However, the low nonlinearity value of these designs is a problem. In this study, a dataset consisting of twenty different substitution-box structures have been publicly presented to the researchers. The fact that the proposed dataset has high nonlinearity values will allow it to be used in many practical applications in the future studies. The proposed dataset provides a contribution to the literature as it can be used both as an input dataset for the new post-processing algorithm and as a countermeasure to prevent the success of side-channel analyzes.

In order to improve the security and encryption efficiency of multi image cross hybrid encryption, a multi image cross hybrid encryption method based on combined chaotic system is proposed. On the basis of chaos theory, the characteristics of Logistic chaotic system and Lorenz chaotic system are analyzed, and Logistic chaotic system and Lorenz chaotic system are combined to form a combined chaotic system. In order to improve the security of multi image encryption, the plaintext image is preprocessed before encryption. The preprocessing process is embedding random number sequence in the plaintext image. Based on the random number embedded image, the combined chaotic system is applied to the multi image cross chaotic encryption method. Experimental results show that the proposed method has high encryption security and high encryption efficiency.

We present an alternate-channel chaotic laser secure communication system to enhance information communication security and study its technical solution via combining chaos shift keying (CSK) and chaos masking (CM). Two coupled lasers and other two single lasers are introduced as a novel alternate-channel secure communication system, where one of two coupled lasers is modulated via CSK to encode a digital signal and the other of coupled lasers is used to emit a chaotic carrier to mask an information using CM. The two single lasers are used to decode CSK and CM information, respectively. And such CSK performance results in enhancement of CM secure performance because of in-time variation of the emitter' parameter as secret keys. The obtained numerical results show that the encoding and decoding can be successfully performed. The study is beneficial to chaotic cryptography and optics secure communication.

Through this research work, we introduce a simplified and fast chaos-based scheme for multimedia data encryption and in particular for color image encryption application. The new algorithm is based on an extracted four-dimension (4-D) discrete time map. The proposed 4-D chaos system includes seven (07) nonlinear terms and four (04) controllers to generate a robust chaos that can satisfy the encryption requirements. The performance of this image encryption algorithm are analyzed with the help of four important factors which are key space, correlation, complexity and running time. Results of the security analysis compared to some of similar proposals, show that our encryption scheme is more effective in terms of key stream cipher space, correlation, complexity and running time.

In this work, the algorithm of increasing the information security of a communication system with Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) was achieved by using a discrete-nonlinear Duffing system with dynamic chaos. The main idea of increasing information security is based on scrambling input information on three levels. The first one is mixing up data order, the second is scrambling data values and the final is mixing symbols at the Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) plot constellation. Each level's activities were made with the use of pseudorandom numbers set, generated by the discrete-nonlinear Duffing system with dynamic chaos.

Aiming at the problems of low accuracy and poor effect caused by the lack of data labels in most real network traffic, an optimized density peak clustering based on the improved salp swarm algorithm is proposed for traffic anomaly detection. Through the optimization of cosine decline and chaos strategy, the salp swarm algorithm not only accelerates the convergence speed, but also enhances the search ability. Moreover, we use the improved salp swarm algorithm to adaptively search the best truncation distance of density peak clustering, which avoids the subjectivity and uncertainty of manually selecting the parameters. The experimental results based on NSL-KDD dataset show that the improved salp swarm algorithm achieves faster convergence speed and higher precision, increases the average anomaly detection accuracy of 4.74% and detection rate of 6.14%, and reduces the average false positive rate of 7.38%.

In recent years, the commodities industry has grown rapidly under the stimulus of domestic demand and the expansion of cross-border trade. It has also been combined with the rapid development of e-commerce technology in the same period to form a flexible and efficient e-commerce system for bulk commodities. However, the hasty combination of both has inspired a lack of effective regulatory measures in the bulk industry, leading to constant industry chaos. Among them, the problem of lagging evidence in regulatory platforms is particularly prominent. Based on this, we design a blockchain-based evidential and secure bulk-commodity supervisory system (abbr. BeBus). Setting different privacy protection policies for each participant in the system, the solution ensures effective forensics and tamper-proof evidence to meet the needs of the bulk business scenario.

Network covert timing channel(NCTC) is a process of transmitting hidden information by means of inter-packet delay (IPD) of legitimate network traffic. Their ability to evade traditional security policies makes NCTCs a grave security concern. However, a robust method that can be used to detect a large number of NCTCs is missing. In this paper, a NCTC detection method based on chaos theory and threshold secret sharing is proposed. Our method uses chaos theory to reconstruct a high-dimensional phase space from one-dimensional time series and extract the unique and stable channel traits. Then, a channel identifier is constructed using the secret reconstruction strategy from threshold secret sharing to realize the mapping of the channel features to channel identifiers. Experimental results show that the approach can detect varieties of NCTCs with a guaranteed true positive rate and greatly improve the versatility and robustness.

Zaher, A. A., Hussain, G. Amjad.  2019.  Chaos-based Cryptography for Transmitting Multimedia Data over Public Channels. 2019 7th International Conference on Information and Communication Technology (CoICT). :1–6.

This paper explores using chaos-based cryptography for transmitting multimedia data, mainly speech and voice messages, over public communication channels, such as the internet. The secret message to be transmitted is first converted into a one-dimensional time series, that can be cast in a digital/binary format. The main feature of the proposed technique is mapping the two levels of every corresponding bit of the time series into different multiple chaotic orbits, using a simple encryption function. This one-to-many mapping robustifies the encryption technique and makes it resilient to crypto-analysis methods that rely on associating the energy level of the signal into two binary levels, using return map attacks. A chaotic nonautonomous Duffing oscillator is chosen to implement the suggested technique, using three different parameters that are assumed unknown at the receiver side. Synchronization between the transmitter and the receiver and reconstructing the secret message, at the receiver side, is done using a Lyapunov-based adaptive technique. Achieving stable operation, tuning the required control gains, as well as effective utilization of the bandwidth of the public communication channel are investigated. Two different case studies are presented; the first one deals with text that can be expressed as 8-bit ASCII code, while the second one corresponds to an analog acoustic signal that corresponds to the voice associated with pronouncing a short sentence. Advantages and limitation of the proposed technique are highlighted, while suggesting extensions to other multimedia signals, along with their required additional computational effort.

The analysis results showed that both the substitution box structure and the image encryption algorithm provide the necessary criteria for data security.

The strength of the substitution box (S-box) determines the security of the cryptographic algorithm because it's the only nonlinear component in the block cipher. Because of the disadvantages of non-uniformity sequence and limited range in the one-dimension (1D) chaotic map, this paper constructs the logistic map and the sine map into a combined chaotic map, and a new S-box construction method based on this combined chaotic map is presented. Performance tests were performed on the S-box, including nonlinearity, linear probability, differential probability, strict avalanche criterion, bits independence criterion. Compared with others S-box, this result indicates that the S-box has more excellent cryptographic performance and can be used as a nonlinear component in the lightweight block cipher algorithm.
