David Hyde Awarded NSF CAREER Grant to Advance Cloud Computing, AI, and Quantum Research
David Hyde, an assistant professor of computer science at Vanderbilt University, has been awarded a prestigious National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER Award. This award, totaling $547,484, supports early career faculty with the potential to lead advancements in research and education.
Hyde's research focuses on cloud and quantum computing, artificial intelligence, and social networking. The NSF funding will support three major projects:
1) Enhancing Hyde’s ADVISER cloud computing platform with AI and GPU capabilities to democratize cloud computing for computational scientists.
2) Using deep learning to improve the efficiency of software running on quantum computers.
3) Developing a web application to help researchers identify and foster new scientific collaborations.
Hyde's work aims to accelerate computational science research and enable new scientific discoveries by fostering interdisciplinary collaboration. He previously presented research integrating machine learning with computational fluid dynamics at the ACM PASC24 Conference in Zurich, Switzerland.
