Postdoctoral Position at GEODES, Software Engineering Group, Université de Montréal

The GEODES Software Engineering Group at Université de Montréal is seeking a postdoctoral researcher for a cutting-edge project that leverages digital twins and artificial intelligence to accelerate discoveries in the field of advanced materials.

Project Description:
The research aims to address climate change challenges, particularly in energy storage and CO2 conversion/valorization. A critical focus is on developing surfaces with finely controlled physico-chemical properties. Cold plasma-based processes have emerged as a promising alternative for surface functionalization, but the experimental space to explore is vast. This project’s goal is to integrate digital twin technology and AI to model cold plasma reactors and predict the physico-chemical properties of treated surfaces across a wide range of configurations.

Team:
The selected candidate will join a multidisciplinary team and will work under the supervision of Prof. Houari Sahraoui (Department of Computer Science and Operations Research) in collaboration with Prof. Luc Stafford (Department of Physics) and Prof. Mickaël Dollé (Department of Chemistry).

Start Date and Duration:
The position is available immediately, with an ideal start in January 2025. The initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal for a second year.

How to Apply:
We are looking for candidates with a Ph.D. in a relevant field, such as Model-Driven Engineering (MDE), digital twins, or artificial intelligence. Interested applicants should submit a short cover letter and research CV to sahraouh@iro.umontreal.ca.
