UAH assistant professor Dr. Avimanyu Sahoo recognized as part of 4th Annual Engineering Showcase (Engineers Week 2025)
Dr. Avimanyu Sahoo, an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH), has been awarded a National Science Foundation (NSF) grant that aims to characterize the vulnerabilities of learning-based intelligent cyber-physical systems (CPS) and develop defenses against potential threats. CPS are integrated systems combining physical components, sensors, actuators, and intelligent controllers through communication networks, commonly found in smart grids, robotic swarms, and autonomous vehicles.

In addition to this grant, Dr. Sahoo has received a $279,105 NSF Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) Fellowship. This fellowship supports his research in developing control methods to enhance the performance of lithium-ion batteries by advancing their onboard electronic battery management systems, a critical area given the projected increase in electric vehicle usage.
