What are PlugFests?
The U.S. Department of Transportation's (USDOT) will hold its third Connected Vehicle PlugFest on May 13-15, 2014 in Farmington Hills, Michigan. PlugFests provide venues for vendor-to-vendor connected vehicle device testing to help ensure that devices and systems meet the base standard requirements and level of interoperability necessary for the Southeast Michigan Connected Vehicle Test Bed Deployment 2014 Project.
For more information on the USDOT Connected Vehicle PlugFests, please visit: http://www.its.dot.gov/testbed/plugFests.htm
What is the PlugFest Agenda?
On May 13, a training session will be held via webinar from 1:00-4:30 PM EST to provide an overview of the Southeast Michigan 2014 Project, including the document tree, communication security requirements, architecture, and concept of operation.
On May 14-15, on-site testing will occur at the Carrier & Gable facility (see address listed above). Participants will be able to test their devices’ peer-to-peer and broadcast mode communications capabilities. An overview of testing processes will be provided on the morning of May 14.
A more detailed agenda will be provided to registered participants leading up to the PlugFest.
Who can participate in PlugFests?
The PlugFest training sessions are open to anyone who is interested to attend. The PlugFest testing sessions are only open to those organizations that have signed the Affiliated Test Bed Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) and the Amendment to the Affiliated Test Bed MOA. If you have not yet signed the MOA and would like to participate in and/or observe the testing, please follow the instructions for the Affiliated Test Bed MOA and return the participant template so a tailored version of the agreement can be prepared for your signature.
The focus of the PlugFests is to support those organizations that have signed the Affiliated Test Bed MOA and that are developing products, software, and systems that use the Southeast Michigan 2014 Connected Vehicle architecture and infrastructure. The events are therefore set up to support these developers, and space is primarily dedicated to testing activities. There is value to interested organizations that have signed the Affiliated Test Bed MOA in observing the testing, and space is being made available for observers, but that space is limited. If you are planning to observe only, and your organization has signed the Affiliated Test Bed MOA, you will be limited to one observer per organization, as space permits.
