Agency briefings about research interests

The ASEE Engineering Research Council held a meeting in Washington DC on March 5, 2012.  There were presentations from OSTP, ASD-R&E, AFOSR, ARO, DOE, NIH, NSF, ONR, USDA about the agencies' research interests, funding levels and new opportunities including CPS.  Several of the presentations had information relevant to CPS, including Dr. Reginald Brothers, Assistant Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering; John P. Holdren, Assistant  to the President for Science and Technology Director, White House Office of Science & Technology Policy;  Farnam Jahanian, Assistant Director for Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE), National Science Foundation; Thomas W. Peterson, Assistant Director for Engineering; Dr. Harriet Kung, Associate Director of Science for Basic Energy Sciences, Department of Energy (DOE) National Science Foundation; Civil, Mechanical and Manufacturing Innovation (CMMI) presented by Steve McKnight, Division Director and George Hazelrigg, Deputy Division Director; Engineering Education and Centers (EEC) presented by Theresa Maldonado, Division Director;  Emerging Frontiers in Research and Innovation (EFRI) presented by Sohi Rastegar, Office Director; Dr. Van Blackwood, Assistant to the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) Chief Scientist; Dr. Thomas L. Doligalski, Acting Director, US Army Research Office (ARO), AFOSR; Dr. Kam Ng, Deputy Director of Research (ONR 03R.
