The International Symposium on Asynchronous Circuits and Systems (ASYNC) is the premier forum for researchers to present their latest findings in the area of asynchronous design. Besides a regular paper track, the conference will also hold a special industrial papers track and a "fresh ideas" workshop. The symposium will be hosted in San Diego, California, US, in May 21-24 2017.
Keynote Speakers
John Redmond (Broadcom)
John Redmond is a Low Power Technologist at Broadcom focusing on low power methodology and technology development. He has been instrumental in the development of power estimation and reduction methodologies, power management, power intent flows, low power cells, and adaptive voltage scaling (AVS). John previously worked at Nokia and Conexant on low power wireless SoCs. John received a M.S. in Computer Engineering from Iowa State University.
Keith Bowman (Qualcomm)
Keith A. Bowman is a Principal Engineer in the Processor Research Team at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. in Raleigh, NC. He is responsible for researching and developing circuit technologies for enhancing the performance and energy efficiency of Qualcomm processors. He pioneered Qualcomm’s first commercially successful circuit for mitigating the adverse effects of supply voltage droops. He received the B.S. degree from North Carolina State University and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the Georgia Institute of Technology, all in electrical engineering. He previously worked in the Technology-CAD Group and the Circuit Research Lab at Intel Corporation in Hillsboro, OR. He has published over 70 technical papers, received 7 patents with 15 more pending, and presented over 25 tutorials on variation-tolerant circuit designs. He previously chaired ISQED and ICICDT conferences and currently serves on the ISSCC technical program committee.
Ken Yun (UCSD)
Kenneth Yun is a professor emeritus at University of California, San Diego and currently a visiting professor at Institut Supérieur d'Electronique de Paris. He has a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He was a professor at University of California, San Diego from 1994 to 2010. His research focus during his tenure at U.C. San Diego had been on design of asynchronous circuits, and high performance digital circuits with applications in wired and wireless communications systems. From year 2000 to 2003, he took a leave of absence from U.C. San Diego, founded a fabless semiconductor company for design and fabrication of terabit switches, and, after its acquisition by Applied Micro Circuits, worked as a chief technical officer for AMCC leading to a successful deployment of a terabit switching chipset. His recent research focus has been on wireless communication systems and cloud-based wireless system prototyping. He has over 70 published technical articles and 18 United States patents. Currently, he is working on a mobile app start-up YuniApps he co-founded with his daughter.
