"Dear Colleague" Letter from the National Science Foundation Supports Smart and Connected Communities

September 14, 2015 - As part of its ongoing series of "Dear Colleague" letters articulating research interests, the National Science Foundation has published a letter expressing its intent to support fundamental research that addresses challenges in enabling Smart and Connected Communities (S&CC).

The letter notes that "integration of networked information systems, sensing and communication devices, data sources, decision making, and physical infrastructure are transforming society," an observation that closely relates to work by FORCES researchers. NSF's stated interest to the community in these areas of research reflects positively on the achievements of the FORCES group. We look forward to working with NSF to advance the common understanding and integration of innovative CPS for the benefit of society.
