Traffic Sequence Charts (TSCs) and Criticality Metrics

Exchange Summary

I was working on the CrESt project at OFFIS with Thomas Peikenkamp. We wanted to learn more about how we could incorporate traffic criticality metrics into the abstract framework of Traffic Sequence Charts (TSCs) and then how those criticality metrics could be used together to categorize the criticality of abstract situations into equivalence classes. After a literature review, I parameterized the criticality metrics such that they capture the abstract nature of TSCs yet still maintain their precise quantitative meaning. This parameterization puts many established criticality metrics from diverse sources into a uniform, intuitive format and has not been found in literature. With parameterized criticality metrics, I established a baseline comparison of criticality between the abstract scenarios described by TSCs.
