The Smart and Connected Communities (S&CC) program solicitation has been revised for the FY 2019 competition, and prospective Principal Investigators (PIs) are encouraged to read the solicitation carefully. Among the changes are the following:
- The Budget for the S&CC Integrative Research Grants (SCC-IRG) category has been revised to include two tracks: Track 1 (budgets greater than $1,500,000, with no recommended budget limit and durations up to four years) and Track 2 (budgets not to exceed $1,500,000 and durations up to three years).

Planning Grant project duration is one year.
- The Project Description for SCC-IRG proposals now requires a section named “Scope and Scale”.
- The Project Description now requires a subsection named “Research Questions” within the Integrative Research section for all categories.
- Proposal deadlines have been revised.
Any proposal submitted in response to this solicitation should be submitted in accordance with the revised NSF Proposal & Award Policies & Procedures Guide (PAPPG) (NSF 19-1), which is effective for proposals submitted, or due, on or after January 28, 2019.
