RICARDO JOSE SANDOVAL MENDOZA

A native of El Salvador, Ricardo Sandoval moved to Nashville, Tennessee to study Computer Science in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Vanderbilt University. At Vanderbilt, Ricardo is a member of the Ingram Scholars Program — a service-oriented merit scholarship that seeks to foster the idea of combining a successful professional career with a lifelong commitment to finding solutions to critical societal problems. Ricardo is interested in findings ways in which technology can serve as a catalyst for progress in various domains.

Ricardo is working with Dr. Rediet Abebe to develop computational frameworks to understand poverty. Additionally, he is helping Dr. Janos Sztipanovits and Dr. Himanshu Neema on the integration of different data streams and simulations for the Premonition program. Since his freshman year, Ricardo has been a member of Dr. Dan Work’s lab where his research focuses on transportation data analytics.
