Abstract:  Despite their importance within the energy sector, buildings have not kept pace with technological improvements and particularly  the evolution of intelligent features. A primary obstacle  in enabling intelligent buildings is their highly distributed and diverse nature.

Abstract: The primary objective in this project is to lay the foundations of a cyber-physical infrastructure for creative design and making of realizable products by addressing fundamental barriers to participation, model- based engineering, and information sharing. The focus is on the following three aims:

Abstract: The objective of this research is to develop tools for comprehensive design and optimization of air traffic flow management capabilities at multiple spatial and temporal resolutions: at a national airspace-wide scale and one-day time horizon (strategic time- frame); and at a regional scale (of one or a few Centers) and a two-hour time horizon (tactical time-frame). The following results were obtained in Year 4 of the project:

Abstract: CyberPhysical Systems (CPS) that self-modify to improve performance or repair damage often rewrite the modular relationships that make system modeling or Verification and Validation (V&V) possible. In this project, we are exploring methods to create self- modifying CPS systems that, in addition to self-improving or self-repairing, are also capable of maintaining system models that support the use of V&V techniques.

Abstract: Intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) requires tight coordination between computational systems and the physical devices that deliver the prescribed treatment plan, making it a perfect example of cyber-physical system. The current approach to addressing tumor motion in radiation therapy is to treat it as a problem and not as a therapeutic opportunity. Existing treatment planning methods attempt to create dose distributions that are at best dosimetrically equivalent to the static case.

The provenance captured from different layers of abstraction (workflow/process/OS) provides the highest benefit when integrated through a unified provenance framework. To build such a framework, a comprehensive provenance model able to represent the provenance of data objects with various semantics and granularity is the first step. In this poster we present a provenance model able to represent the provenance of any data object captured at any abstraction layer and present an abstract schema of the model.
