Cybersecurity and resiliency of the power grid is of paramount importance to national security and economic well-being. CPS security testbeds are enabling technologies that provide realistic experimental platforms for the evaluation and validation of security technologies within controlled environments. In this regard, the following are the key objectives of the project:

Abstract:
This project is to develop dynamical models of distributed computation systems that are resilient to noise, unreliable communication and other source uncertainty. The key idea is centered on the development of optimization systems. These are dynamical systems that (solve) stabilize around the optimal solution of a (static) convex optimization problem. If the optimization problem is separable, then the designed dynamic system decomposes into a set of locally interacting dynamic systems.

Abstract:
We developed a systematic analytical and computational framework for the vulnerability analysis and mitigation of data integrity attacks on Phasor Measurement Units (PMUs) employed for wide area monitoring and control of power system. The analytical framework is based on the stability theory of stochastic dynamical system and it allows one to systematically determine the PMUs most critical to power network security.

Abstract:
Modern distributed cyber-physical systems (CPSs) encounter a large variety of physical faults and cyber anomalies and in many cases, they are vulnerable to catastrophic fault propagation scenarios due to strong connectivity among the sub-systems.

Abstract:
For reliable operation of programmed molecular systems, the capability to detect faults when they occur and to initiate recovery is essential. Since a faulty system cannot be depended upon to report its own failure, a monitoring device is needed. The work presented here describes the design of one such fault protection device, called a molecular watchdog timer.

Abstract:
Effective response and adaptation to the physical world, and rigorous management of such behaviors, are mandatory features of cyber-physical systems (CPS). However, achieving such capabilities across diverse application requirements surpasses the current state of the art in system platforms and tools. Existing systems do not support the expression, integration, and enforcement of such properties that span cyber and physical domains.
